Well.. finally ran into one of those ass chp. He couldn't nail me for speeding so he gave me a fix it tickets for the light signals and and exhaust. I guess there's no fighting this one, but to those of you thinking about LED turn signals, watchout.

damn lol I have LED turn signals for the front and rear. I bought the bike like that and I live in Cali also. Funny thing is I thought bikes get less $hit from cops which is why I took almost everything off my car and bought myself a bike. Guess I was wrong.

No you weren't wrong... Unless your acting foolish most cops wont mess with bikes, I grew up in N.J. and now live in TN. and I have nevere gotten messed with by a cop unless It was my fault.

You gotta keep this in mind..... There are some people (even cops) that for one reason or another just totally dispize motorcycles. If you run into one of them people then the chance is there that they will harrase you about the petty crap!

other then that, very rare you get F'd with for silly Chit!

That mofo has to catch my ass. I have no running brake light for a reason, and a switch on my brake light for when I have to nail it off the off ramp and hide. Screw chp I have had my fill with them and I have only been here a month. Fix it tickets are a crock of bs. I got two and said I was done with it and thats when I installed the switch and disabled the running light. havent been caught since.

Yah, last time I checked no cop here is gonna hit 150 chasin my sorry ass. Got yelled at in a parking lot last week cause they couldnt see my plates. I just smiled and waved, then promtly tried to see how fast my RR could go from 0 to oh ****. I think the cop just sat there and stared? They are merely an annoying distraction, to be delt with by the right hand wrist :)

Agreed, Kids dont try this at home. I know somone is going to preach about how we are going to get busted someday or somthing bad is gonna happen and I can honestly say that out of my years of riding I understand my risk and I am wiling to pay when it catches me because by then it will be WELL deserved and well earned on their part. but untill then FTP.

i got a fix it ticket for my Comp Werkes FE. ******* cop .. i was going 30 in a 30 .. minding my own business .. and he passes like 5 cars to get to me, and i get a $200 ticket .. i had just gotten the bike and it was stock other then flush mounts and the FE, and that's how i bought it ... but he wouldn't let me off the hook. He just gave me a fix it ticket .. but later that day i t-boned a truck at 35 or so MPH. Now how do i fix it?? lol.

Then i got the FUN ... tickets, negligant 2 driving and no endorsement. Pff.

(the neg2 ticket is complete bs, in the middle of lawsuit ... the no endorsement ticket, my permit had just recently expired ... the fix it ticket for the FE, i just took a pic of the bike with the plate taped up to the exhaust so its hanging off haha)

You are not a smart person.
If that's truely what you do, then you WILL get in big legal trouble or
seriously hurt, killed etc... No Ticket is worth risking all that.

I hope there isn't an air unit around when you pull that. Ours is a little quicker than your bike.

fix it tickets are rare. a cop will usually only do that when they're having a bad day. there's really no way out of it. just put back ur stock parts for a day, show up and get it checked and then put ur mods back on. just hope you dont run into the same cop.

tomlinsb.. do you realize you called yourself a sorry ass?

Another way to get out of a fix it ticket is to know a cop and have him sign it off. Not that I would ever do that.

I don't think your going to like my answer.....

You guys running from the cops are seriously ill. All that Bullshitt to avoid a fixit ticket? Do you have the word "Genius" tattooed on your forehead?

Every state has to uphold the DOT standards. States are able to add to the DOT standards, but they cannot change the existing rules in any way. DOT is a Federal Government program. If a state ignores the rules than they are breaking the Federal appointed law.

The Federal requirements are Turn signals w/ 3-1/2" surface area, 3" sq. red reflector in the direct rear and on the sides of the rear, silver or yellow 3" sq. reflector on the sides, in front of the vehicle, headlight for motorcycles, light for the plate, plate located on outermost rear of the vehicle, exhaust w/ 92 decibel rating.

Get with the program or be prepared to take it in the ass for the rest of your riding days. Approved devices are not there as a reason for the CHP to pull you over.
They are there to:
1. increase highway efficiency (as stated by DOT)
2. save your life.

These rules are not new at all, in fact they are over 30 years old. CHP is just doing their appointed job. Get over your cosmetic crush ya Sally boys.... This is the country that we live in. This country has set up some rules. Live by them! If you run from the CHP you may as well be 6 feet under because that's what happens a lot of the time. Think about it. Is it worth it? High speed chase only to die from an accident because you had illegal turn signals.. Genius...

Some of the rules are kinda gay though. A loud pipe? or flush mounts? come on. Just like when I had my truck lowered it was less than 10 inches from the ground and I would get my balls busted for it. If I wanna mess up my own truck then its my own fault

The police here in NY aren't so bad with bikes unless you are doing something illegal right in front of them with no disregard for others. Stoppies, wheelies standing on the seat etc., will get you pulled over but the accessories and stuff won't for the most part. B-t-w when I say NY I mean Long Island and the city - upstate cops are a whole other story.

PoPo's here are on sportbikes too. I'm sure other states will soon have that, so keep running (sarcastic).

I dont get it why people are pissed at the cops. They are merely enforcing the laws, laws that we make. If you dont want to get ticketed, write your congressman saying why the law shouldnt be there. But until then the guy is just doing his job.

For example, when was the last time you tried to bend a rule at work or ignored a rule completely and got away with it. Most of us would be fired in a second. The cop has to pay for meals kids mortgage whatever. So many of them are monitored by video, GPS, partners, superiors, whatever, that they cant let stuff go when they see it even if they want to.

Like I said the cops have their own rules and their own paychecks to worry about...unless they themselves are breaking their own rules and playing unfairly with the rest of us, but those cases are usually very rare.

Some of them are useless but the people that write the rules are so out of touch they dont see all the problems they cause.

The reason why they have lowering laws (it is not a set amount, last I checked the lowest part of the body had to be above the lip of the rim) isds so that next time you go over a pothole or a speedbump your car doesnt drag and mash in the oilpan or the next time you have some road debris on the road bigger than a piece of paper you dont drop a bumper and clog up a road/street/freeway lane for everyone else.

If you have an issue with it, go change the law. You might learn why the law is there and why it might be dangerous to have a car kissing the ground instead of hating the dept of traffic and all the guys enforcing the laws as part of their paid jobs

BTW I am not a cop. I have been harassed by cops. I have been cited for cops, over things I consider BS and where I felt like I was being singled out....But 99% of the the time my interaction with cops has been good-willed and I think they have alot on the line and take heat for stuff that is out of their hands. Its like people expect them to uphold certain laws but IGNORE others.

Like if you worked at a grocery store, what if you let someone steal all the cheapo stuff but when something is worth more than say $5 you wont let it happen. Like anyone would risk their job security for a complete stranger. Right....
